On this International Workersβ Day, we honor the hands that build nations and the voices that demand justice. Those whose labor powers our economies, sustains our communities, and shapes our collective future. Today is not only a celebration of labor, but a continuous call for livable wage, the upholding of workersβ rights, and job security.
In this fight for the labor movement, we as development communication practitioners play a transformative role in linking labor issues and broad development goals. Through community media, storytelling, grassroots campaigns, and participatory platforms we emphasize our role in using communication for social change by empowering workers to share their realities, assert their rights, and organize for systemic change.
Labor Day is not the only time to champion workers' rightsβevery day presents an opportunity to raise our voices, demand justice, and uphold the dignity of every member of the workforce. Together, hand-in-hand, a world where everyoneβs rights and voices are honored and fought for must be created.
The Voice of UPLB DevComSoc enjoins writers, press freedom advocates, journalists, and especially media workers in our fight to strengthen the channels of which marginalized communities may be heard and their struggles understood. Let us use communication not just to inform, but to mobilize and inspire.
