This is a photo of my friend’s cousin, who’s celebrating her 18th birthday in March 2025. She asked me to be her photographer for her pre-debut shoot, and we took this shot on January 16, 2025. I used my Canon 800D with a 50mm lens, plus my Photolex light to enhance the golden hour effect while she played the piano.
Out of all the photos I’ve taken, this one feels special. I never really thought I could capture something like this—I've always been my own worst critic. But in that moment, everything just came together. The light, the mood, the way she played—it felt magical. Seeing the final result made me realize how far I’ve come, and it reminded me why I love photography in the first place. More than anything, I’m just grateful I got to make her pre-debut shoot a memory she’ll cherish forever.
This photo was taken in my hometown, Malabon City, and I consider it my second-best shot because of the raw emotions and story it tells. It captures the everyday struggles of local fishermen—hardworking individuals trying to make a living despite financial difficulties and the lack of government support.
What makes this photo even more meaningful is the bird flying in the background. It wasn’t something I planned, but when I saw it in the shot, it just made sense. To me, it represents hope—the idea that no matter how difficult things get, there’s always a reason to keep going. I titled this photo “Layag ng Malabon” because it reflects the resilience of the people in my hometown. Life here isn’t easy, but Malabueños are strong, hardworking, and always find a way to move forward.
This photo was one of my favorite because of the story behind this. My first trip outside the country was in Taiwan. It was an unplanned trip with my family and I still enjoyed it because of the beauty of Taiwan. I took this photo while thanking God for giving me the opportunity to travel abroad. I feel like I was dreaming when I was there. I can still remember everything. In fact, photography is not just about the technicalities, it is also about the story behind it. We can create our own story while capturing it.
