After scrolling and checking my classmates' works, I feel pressured with my own work. Not in a bad way, but to become more motivated and become inspired working with my assignments for our photography class. To be honest, I am very confident with my portfolio but when I saw others work, I was very amazed with their portfolio. They aren’t just good in photography but also in telling us the stories behind their works. In fact, a lot of them are good in landscape photography which is very inspiring and humbling to see. With their artistic skills and technical skills it displayed truly amazing and impressive work. Some individuals have already mastered the rule of thirds, golden spiral, and leading lines which helped their photos to become more elevated into a professional level. While some of the other students captured different lighting and mood in order to showcase the emotions and stories behind their work. Overall, the standard of their works was so high, which made me feel pressured but a good pressure in order to learn more from them and to be inspired to help myself exploring not just my work but also from others creativity.
This shot was taken by Angelle Felice and it literally caught my attention as she beautifully captures the layers of the mountain. It creates a balanced composition and adding perfect contrast between warm effects from the grass. As a nature lover, this is nice and as person who believes in mobile photography I am amazed. I believe that photography isn’t about your camera, because it is based on the result.
This shot was taken by Des Bantigue and it captures an amazing perspective of an urban landscape by showcasing the tall building. This photo has geometric patterns which show cool textures from the building. This photo is amazing but she can still add improvements from this photo by cropping the lower part of the edge and fix the post-processing by enhancing contrast from the sky and buildings.
This shot was taken by Ginalyn Valles and she captured the Manila City hall clock. This image beautifully highlights the history of the Manila City hall. It is also amazing that there’s a crescent moon in the photo.
This shot was taken by Fiona Gumasing, regarding this photo I like on how this shot was taken. It gives me a cinematic and film vibe. The contrast between the subject and the glow of the lights was amazing. Also the blurred effect of the background adds more cinematic feels.
This amazing action shot was taken by Aaron Ezra Cruz. It has an excellent motion shot in the background which emphasizes how fast the speed of the motorbike. To be honest, its hard to take a shot like this, considering that Aaron had a sharp focus on the motorcyclist. The framing was good maybe he uses cropping in order to get this perfect photo.
If I will rate myself out of 10 maybe I will give myself 9. If I compare myself to my other classmates' work, there will be a huge difference not because I am good, but because we have our own artistic skills. We are good at capturing our own stories and to be honest, we don’t just click but we take photos for a reason. It is not important how amazing your photos was but it is more important on how you will improve your photography skills after taking this course. I might be confident with my photography skills, but I am more confident that I will learn more not just because of our prof but also because of my fellow classmates skills.
