HOW TO SUBMIT PROPOSALS:
Develop your research proposal according to the format of the grant type you intend to apply for. The ORP encourages all eligible applicants (Faculty members and REPS) to develop their proposals as early as possible (i.e., even if there is no call for proposals yet) to ensure that you can submit on or before the ORP's internal deadline for review of proposals. As a rule of thumb:
The Open Grant is for research programs or projects that are multidisciplinary or cross-disciplinary, and has no budget ceiling
The Outright Research Grant is for those who want to embark on a new or continuing research project, and has a budget ceiling of 500,000 pesos with a maximum duration of 1 year.
The Source of Solutions Grant is a special grant that supports funding for commissioned research or creative work, which tends to be results-oriented and has to address a national problem. It has a budget ceiling of 500,000 pesos for a span of 5 to 12 months.
The PhD Incentive Awards is given to support Faculty and REPS who recently obtained their PhD or equivalent to establish their research or creative work. It has a maximum budget offering of 500,000 pesos for a span of up to two (2)contiguous years.
The Thesis & Dissertation Grant is given to assist those that are completing their MA/MS Thesis or doctoral dissertation that will lead to any graduate degree. The maximum grant for thesis is 60,000 pesos while 100,000 pesos is the maximum grant offer for doctoral dissertation.
Submit your research proposal to the Office of Research and Publications (ORP) via email (orpche.upd@up.edu.ph) for review.
The OVCRD requires all proposals to be reviewed and endorsed by the proponents' respective college review committees. The ORP is the College of Home Economics' designated review committee.
The ORP shall conduct a blind review of the proposal (i.e., the reviewers of the proposal remain anonymous to the proponents, shall have no conflict of interest with the proposal, and shall be chosen by the ORP based on their credentials and expertise on the proposal's research topic.), with the following timeline:
1st round of review - The reviewers will be given five (5) working days to sign an NDA for the proposal, review the proposal and provide comments and suggestions using the OVCRD review form, and their comments shall be input into the ORP response form. The ORP response form shall then be sent back to the proponents as a reference for their proposal revision.
2nd round of review - Once the proponents submit their revised proposal, the reviewer will again check whether their comments are addressed properly or if there are still concerns surrounding the proposal. The reviewer must then make a decision whether they will endorse the proposal without comments, endorse the proposal with minor revisions (i.e., there will be no need to send back a minor revised proposal), endorse the proposal with major revisions (i.e., the proponent must address these major revisions but they can submit the latest proposal to the OVCRD. However, the ORP will not provide a certification of technical review nor endorse their proposal to the REC), or not to endorse the proposal at all.
Once endorsed by the ORP, it will be submitted to the Dean's Office for signature.
The ORP will then send the fully endorsed proposal to the proponent. The main proponent of the proposal shall then submit their proposal to the Projects@OVCRD portal (http://projects.ovcrd.upd.edu.ph/) and fill out the required information.
The OVCRD will take over the next processing steps until approval. Based on our last meeting with the RMO-OVCRD, a certification of review from an accredited research ethics board/committee may be required if the proposal needs ethics approval before it is approved for funding by the OVCRD.
Once approved, you may coordinate with OVCRD regarding the necessary procedures.
