The Office of Research and Publications (ORP) is an office at the College of Home Economics (CHE). On July 19, 1978, the CHE created the Office of Research, with the primary function of coordinating research activities in the College. On June 1981, it was renamed Office of Research and Publications (ORP) as the Office expanded its functions to include all publication activities in the College because of the increasing number of publications produced by its faculty members.
It is directly under the Office of the Dean as shown in the functional structure of the Office (Figure 1). The bold, unbroken lines indicate permanent/direct flow of authority and supervision within the organizational structure of the CHE. The broken lines indicate coordination and interaction activities within the ORP structure. The ORP interacts with the College through the Office of the Dean and the Chairmen of Departments. The Department Chairmen appoint committee members to represent their departments to the Office. Also, the Department Chairmen assist their faculty researchers by evaluating/endorsing their works to the ORP chairman, channeled through their respective committee members. All other issues of the departments and faculty members directly concerning the ORP are also channeled through the respective committee members for ORP action.
