Currently, my educational philosophy is a blended approach of constructivism and progressivism. Both philosophies emphasise teachers as facilitators of learning, rather than treating students as mere recipients of knowledge. Both philosophies also highlight collaborative learning, how students work together to answer questions and engage with each other to stimulate their learning.Β

These philosophies are the reason I chose to utilise Multimodal Learning and the Multiple Intelligences Theory (MIT) as the primary frameworks for this special project. It was evident that the students had difficulty focusing for extended periods; however, when engaging in more hands-on lessons and projects, it became apparent that they were more motivated to learn and could maintain their focus for longer. That is why I decided to develop a lesson plan that exposed students to a new mode of learning, using materials they did not often use in the classroom.

Despite the attention span capacities of the students, exposure to these new materials and lesson types would enable them to improve in their learning.
