After consulting with Prof. Gripal, I searched for institutions that could serve as the site for my special project. I was then told about Merrybells Preschool, which I decided to visit since it wasn't far from where I live. Accompanied by my mother, we talked to the main teacher and head of the school, Mrs. Beula. 

We observed the class and spoke to the kids while they were studying. They were very curious about who we were and interacted with my mother and me when they got the chance, often distracting them from their current tasks. It became apparent to me that these kids were enthusiastic and sociable, easy to talk to. I did not feel the need to sugarcoat my speech or words, as the students were able to understand my words without issue. I was pleasantly surprised that the kids were advanced in their studies for their age group, as I had expected them to be learning simple concepts, but they were already studying some of the topics typically taught in Grade 1. 

After the kids went home, my mother and I spoke to Mrs. Buela and learned that she taught the students more advanced lessons, so the kids could have an easier time entering private schools such as Ateneo and La Salle. She recounted how she acquired the school from the previous owner and her journey throughout her current ownership. She shared that during the weekends, the school was still in use, with youth service on Saturdays, while they held church on Sundays. 

Mrs. Beula was interested in my thesis as I explained my requirements and what was expected of me. She asked me why I decided to pursue education and I shared my experiences from middle and high school as an assistant teacher to neurodivergent students. She then informed me about the students' attention spans, which I had noticed during our observation. She shared that some were diagnosed, while some just had short attention spans due to the detrimental effects of prolonged screen time at home. I then shared that I was also diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, and saw many symptoms that I had as a young child in them as I observed the students. 

She readily agreed to let me teach a lesson in her class and encouraged me to spend time with the kids to get to know them better and vice versa. Through this, I was able to develop my communication and networking skills, especially since Mrs. Beula showed great enthusiasm as I explained my special project requirements.
