University of the Philippines Los Baños

The University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), a coeducational publicly funded academic, research and extension institution, is one of the eight constituent universities of the University of the Philippines System. UPLB maintains linkages with more than 100 foreign and six (6) Philippine institutions.

College of Forestry and Natural Resources

The College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR) is one of the 11 degree-granting units of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). As the Philippines’s oldest and finest academic institution of higher learning in forestry, its strength lies on its top-caliber faculty members, competent research, extension, and professional staff, and dedicated administrative personnel spread in its four academic departments – the Forest biological Sciences, Forest Products and Paper Science, Social Forestry and Forest Governance and the Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, and to its support units as well.

Interdisciplinary Studies Center for INREM

The INREM Center is envisioned to become a world-class Center of Excellence in integrated natural resources management and environmental protection through research and development, and public service.


Commission on Higher Education

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) was created on May 18, 1994 through the passage of Republic Act No. 7722, or the Higher Education Act of 1994. CHED, an attached agency to the Office of the President for administrative purposes, is headed by a chairperson and four commissioners, each having a term of office of four years. The Commission En Banc acts as a collegial body in formulating plans, policies and strategies relating to higher education and the operation of CHED.

Department of Natural Resources

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources is the executive department of the Philippine government responsible for governing and supervising the exploration, development, utilization, and conservation of the country's natural resources.

Thünen Research Institute

The Johann Heinrich von Thünen Institute was established in 2008. It is one out of four Federal research institutes under the auspices of the German Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection (BMELV).

The origins of the Thünen Institute lies in three German Federal research centres, all of which were founded after the Second World War, and several of which have even older roots: The Federal Research Centre for Fisheries (BFAFi), the Federal Research Centre for Forestry and Forest Products (BFH), and large parts of the Federal Agricultural Research Centre (FAL).

LaForeT (Landscape Forestry in the Tropics)

LaForeT explores the impact of policy instruments on deforestation and reforestation in the Tropics. It is funded by the Thünen Institute and the German Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in collaboration with partners in Ecuador, the Philippines and Zambia.

The Tan Yan Kee Foundation, Inc. is the corporate social responsibility arm of the Lucio Tan Group of Companies. For close to thirty years, TYKFI has been approaching corporate social responsibility from a holistic commitment framework targeting education, culture and sports; health and social welfare including environmental concerns; research; and manpower development.

Forest Foundation Philippines

Forest Foundation Philippines is a non-profit organization that provides grants to organizations that empower the people to protect the forests. Bonded by a mutual affinity for the protection of the country’s lush forests, the Forest Foundation Philippines was established in 2002 under two bilateral agreements between the governments of the United States of America and the Philippines through the US Tropical Forest Conservation Act (TFCA).
