In response to the challenges posed environment and natural resources degradation, the UPLB Interdisciplinary Program on Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management (UPLB IdPINREM) was established by virtue of the UPLB Office of the Chancellor Administrative Order No. 69, Series of 2007. To further institutionalize the interdisciplinary centers, the Office of the Chancellor promulgated Administrative Order No. 140, Series of 2013, which rename the UPLB IdPINREM to now the UPLB Interdisciplinary Studies Center for Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management (UPLB IDSC-INREM).
Sustainable management of natural resources and environment is one of the greatest challenges that humanity is facing in the 21st century and beyond, particularly in the face of climate change. Good governance, along with economic development, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, and peace and security, is at core of achieving sustainable development.
In this conference, knowledge and experiences on mainstreaming Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management (INREM) in local governance and sustainable development will be shared among academics, researchers, and practitioners in environment and natural resources management.
