Chair of the International Auchenorrhyncha Society

"I wish you an excellent congress, a pleasant and productive stay here in the Philippines!"

Dear friends, colleagues, and participants,

I am delighted to welcome you all here to the Philippines for our international joined congresses on Auchenorrhyncha, the 17th International Auchenorrhyncha Congress, and the 13th International Workshop on Leafhoppers and Planthoppers of Economic Importance.

After these years of lockdowns and virtual conferences, we are all eager to finally meet in person. Like previous editions, this meeting represents an exciting opportunity for scientists and experts from all around the world to share their knowledge, ideas, and research on these fascinating insects. For students, it is also an important experience to learn and discover new paths, exchange ideas with experts of the group.

Auchenorrhyncha are an extremely diverse group of insects that can have a significant impact on the ecosystems where they are found. This group also piques our curiosity and requires our expertise on fields as varied as morphology, systematics, ethology, and much more. During this congress, we will have the opportunity to learn more about their behaviors, habitats, impact on our cultures, ... and to discuss the importance of their conservation. Better identifying and gaining a better understanding of the so diverse challenges we could face in these different fields is inspiring for scientists such as ourselves.

I am convinced that these congresses will be a rewarding experience for all participants. The exchanges and discussions we will have in the coming days will undoubtedly contribute to advancing our understanding of Auchenorrhyncha and strengthening our collaboration in all areas that matter to you.

I wish you an excellent congress, a pleasant and productive stay here in the Philippines.

Welcome!
