The Human Resource Development Office, in collaboration with the Procurement Management Office (PMO), conducted the Procurement Training for Admin and Supply Officers on May 31, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the 8th Floor, Social Hall, PGH Central Block Building.
The expected training outcomes, through the understanding of procurement procedures among researchers and the exchange and sharing of expectations in addressing procurement concerns, include 1) compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, 2) enhanced skills and competencies in procurement planning, execution, and management and 3) Improved ability to maintain accurate and compliant documentation.
Vice Chancellor for Campus Planning and Development, Dr. Jose V. Tecson, III, welcomed the participants with his opening remarks, highlighting the importance of complying with procurement laws and guidelines to maintain the quality standards, which in turn will be beneficial for the respective offices and the University.
Dir. Melody Jane L. Rojo, Procurement Specialist Level 2 and the Director of the Procurement Management Office begins the series of topics with the Principles and Guidelines of Public Procurement. This is followed by the guidance of Procurement Specialists Level 1, Ms. Sheila Marie C. Bustamante in Procurement Planning and Ms. Kathlin-Kaye T. Hidalgo on Procurement Flow Charts.
To address the concerns and inquiries of the Central Administration and College Unit administrative and supply officers, an Open Forum was facilitated by Ms. Melody Jane L. Rojo, Ms. Shiela Marie C. Bustamante, Ms. Kathlin-Kaye T. Hidalgo from the PMO, Mr. Erwin A. Dando from the Accounting Office, and Ms. Lovelle C. Saguid from the Budget Office. Through the varying experiences and scenarios of the supply officers and staff, the activity helped the participants appreciate the importance of understanding procurement fundamentals and the essence of the rules implemented by the offices involved in government procurement.
