The Human Resource Development Office, in collaboration with the Procurement Management Office (PMO) and Research Grants Administration Office (RGAO), conducted the Procurement Training for Project Leaders and Project Staff on May 30, 2024 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the 8th Floor, Social Hall, PGH Central Block Building.
The expected training outcomes, through the understanding of procurement procedures among researchers and the exchange and sharing of expectations in addressing procurement concerns, include 1) compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, 2) enhanced skills and competencies in procurement planning, execution, and management and 3) Improved ability to maintain accurate and compliant documentation.
Vice Chancellor for Research, Dr. Leslie Michelle M. Dalmacio, welcomed the participants through a recording of her opening remarks, highlighting the importance of understanding the procurement processes and applying the knowledge to comply with procurement laws and guidelines, which in turn will be beneficial for the researchers and their respective units.
Dr. Emerito Jose A. Faraon, the Head of Research Grants Administration Office, gave an inspirational message to the participants where he emphasized the relevance of the training in the day to day transactions and roles of every researcher. Succeeding series of topics such as the Principles and Guidelines of Public Procurement, Procurement Planning, and Procurement Flow Charts were discussed respectively by Dir. Melody Jane L. Rojo, Procurement Specialist Level 2 and the Director of the Procurement Management Office, Ms. Sheila Marie C. Bustamante, and Ms. Kathlin-Kaye T. Hidalgo, who are Procurement Specialists Level 1 from the same office.
Procurement Processes thru RGAO were discussed by Ms. Raven Christine Estabillo, Ms. Jinky Mejia, and Ms. Felrina Jimeno. To address the concerns and inquiries of the project officers, an Open Forum was facilitated by Dr. Emerito Jose A. Faraon, Ms. Raven Christine Estabillo, Ms. Angelica Gotoman from RGAO, Ms. Melody Jane L. Rojo, Ms. Shiela Marie C. Bustamante, Ms. Kathlin-Kaye T. Hidalgo from the PMO and Mr. Erwin A. Dando from the Accounting Office.
