Pre-Retirement Workshop Batch 1

As part of the continuous effort to prepare UP Manila retirees for their retirement and to recognize the excellent service they provided to the University, the Human Resource Development Office (HRDO) conducted a face-to-face Pre-Retirement Workshop. The workshop was held on June 20, 2023, from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM at the 8th Floor, Social Hall, PGH Central Block Building. It was attended by 34 optional and compulsory retirees from the different units/offices/colleges of the University.

The workshop served as a venue to discuss topics on the computation of pension, Retirement Benefits under RA 8291 (GSIS Act of 1997), RA 7699 (Portability Law), and Insurance Policy (LEP & ELP). Additionally, this pre-retirement workshop is part of the University’s programs for Senior Citizens under Section 36 of the General Provisions of the General Appropriations Act (GAA). 

Pre-Retirement Workshop offered the retiree employees a valuable opportunity to familiarize themselves with the needed documents for the processes and procedures to have a smooth transition into retirement. 

UP Manila Vice Chancellor Johanna Patricia A. Cañal also graced the workshop with her presence and encouraged the participants to maximize the opportunity that the HRDO has offered as it will equip them with the essential knowledge and tools to enjoy a smooth transition into retirement.

As the subject experts on these matters, the HRDO invited several resources from different agencies involved in the retirement processes. Particularly, the workshop had speakers from agencies and offices of Pag—IBIG Fund (Ms. Ma. Clarizar Magluyan, Marketing Specialist), UP Provident Fund (Robelyn Aguilar, Co-Fund Manager), Government Service Insurance System or GSIS (Ms. Kristine Deborah Cruz, Staff Officer). 

Internal resource speakers were also invited to present. The HRDO Leaves and Benefits Section with representatives Mr. Derick Dimpsy Palacio and Ms. Charmaine N. Aban also engaged and presented. 

The program was capped off with a closing remark by the HRDO Director, Dr. Michael Antonio F. Mendoza, who emphasized that this process requires collaborative efforts from the retirees and the offices and agencies involved, encouraging their full cooperation and compliance with the policies and guidelines presented during the workshop, for a favorable experience in processing their retirement benefits. 

Requesting for government assistance and services can be quite challenging, in response to this, UP Manila HRDO fulfills the role of serving including its employees by providing the Pre-Retirement Workshop.
