Finally, the implementation of Session 4 (Chapter 4) demonstrated a thoughtful and strategic approach in assessing the effectiveness of the training materials. By allowing some mentors to utilize different language versions—including pure English, full Filipino, and TagLish—trainers were able to observe how language impacts the trainees’ engagement and comprehension.
This varied approach provided valuable insights into the learning preferences of the trainees. The mentors who used the full Tagalog version noticed a strong connection between the trainees and the material, as it allowed them to engage with the lessons in a more familiar and accessible way. The TagLish approach served as a bridge, easing the transition for those who were comfortable with both languages while maintaining clarity in technical concepts. Meanwhile, some of those using pure English materials faced some challenges, reinforcing the importance of offering multilingual support in training programs.
According to my gatekeeper, the positive reception of the Tagalog versions further validated their effectiveness in making the learning process more relatable and meaningful. By adapting instructional materials to the trainees’ linguistic comfort, the program ensured greater inclusivity and engagement, ultimately leading to more productive learning outcomes.
