KNOWING WHERE I'M AT

(Part 1)
ASSIGNMENT 1
For this assignment, I decided to take new photos that relates to my current work—inventory clerk at my relative's fish business. I just thought that this would be a great start to practice how I communicate such stories through photography.
As I've said earlier, I captured some of the scenes I find worth sharing from my everyday routine. The first photo represents my perspective at work as I start my day—or rather, my night—since I work the graveyard shift. This picture was taken last week at the Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market. At first glance, it may seem like just another nighttime view of the market, something anyone with a camera could capture. However, I chose to share this photo to highlight the dynamic life of a public market. It showcases a simplified view of the importation process, where a truck delivers goods from the main producer to the market. Meanwhile, the various vehicles in the scene belong to business owners from nearby cities who source their goods from Pasig. I named this photo Hatinggabi.
For the second photo, I wanted to share this view of the newly opened restroom at Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market. It features five stalls, each designated for different groups of people. This photo was also taken last week inside the market. I chose to capture this particular scene to highlight an important milestone for our local government—the establishment of an inclusive restroom. This facility spares people from having to pay fees at other restrooms and helps prevent potential exploitation or harassment that can occur in restrooms with only shared cubicles instead of individual stalls. I titled this photo Palikuran Para sa Lahat.
I wanted to share this final image capturing a view of consumers inside the Mutya ng Pasig Mega Market. I took this photo last week, aiming to showcase the market’s daily activity. For this shot, I attempted to apply—though I’m not highly knowledgeable about it—one principle of design: balance. Capturing this moment was quite challenging, as the consumers were constantly in motion. I even waited for a day when the market would be bustling with people to better convey its dynamic environment. My intention with this photo was to illustrate the market’s busiest hours, emphasizing its role as a central hub for trade. It highlights the importance of having an establishment where we can conveniently obtain our daily necessities. For this reason, I titled this photo Sentro ng Kalakalan.
