ASSIGNMENT 1a
For both clips, I recorded in a small room with no fan/ventilation on. I first tried recording using my Acer Nitro 5 laptop but I realized right away that it wouldn't work since my speaking voice did not sound well. It's like a robot, and the sound of the pen tapping is not being heard/recorded. After that, I instead used my Realme 6 pro smartphone to do the activity. With the same conditions—area and no fan/ventilation on—, this device was able to provide decent output.
In this activity, I realized that the built-in microphone of my laptop is not suitable for high-quality audio recording. It has limited frequency response resulting in my voice sounding like a robot, and the pen tapping being not heard. On the contrary, smartphones are designed for voice calls, hence, their microphones are more sensitive for a clear voice recording. I think this is one of the reasons why laptops or PCs need external microphones for high-quality audio input.
