BRSL provides cytotoxicity, geno/antigenotoxicity, microalgal, molecular biology, microscopy and
research assistance services to UP, other schools, government and industry.
Evaluation of the safety and toxicity of foods, drugs, cosmetics, and other substances by measuring cell viability using the trypan blue dye exclusion assay on normal human lymphocyte culture
Allium cepa is used to evaluate:
(1) DNA damages such as chromosome aberrations and mitotic cycle disturbances upon exposure of cells to different substances
(2) antigenotoxic potential of substances upon exposure of cells to a mutagen
Identification of microalgal taxa from environmental samples using microscopy
Microscopic analysis of biological and other specimens using light, fluorescence, or phase contrast microscope
Modern equipment for polymerase chain reaction and agarose gel electrophoresis are available for molecular biology experiments
