The BRSL

The Biological Research and Services Laboratory (BRSL) is one of the four research and technical laboratories of the UP Natural Sciences Research Institute (NSRI). The BRSL is being governed by its vision of becoming a leading laboratory in biological research and technical services in the Philippines and in the world. It is held by its mission of 5P’s: Promote, Produce, Perform, Provide, and Protect. The laboratory provides biological assay services, thesis assistance, student internship and workshops. The laboratory’s cell and tissue culture, microalgae, microbiology, microscopy, and molecular biology facilities are ideal for conducting experiments needed by researchers, students and science personnel from the academe, government and industry. On the other hand, its research thrusts are in the fields of bioinformatics and predictive modeling, biomolecular archaeology, drug discovery and natural products, environmental biomonitoring and surveillance, microalgal biodiversity and biofuel, molecular diagnostics, and toxicity testing.
