This first photo is my most recent picture of the three, taken some time this month. I took this photo while shooting some BTS content for my internship. I am interning for a local clothing company and took this while we held a photo shoot for our most recent collection. I love this photo because of the movement that the motion blur catches and the way the lighting in the foreground and background contrast make the image come to life. I took it using a Sony Mirrorless Camera with a fun D.I.Y. disposable camera lens that I have been using more and more recently. A few overhead lights were on as the videographer was simultaneously shooting, which is why it is so much brighter in the background. This picture also reminds me of the album cover of Nicole by the artist Niki. I think that is why I love the image so much, as the album is one of my favorites and one I liked the rollout of. They used a lot of motion blur to capture the feeling of nostalgia and stolen memories.
This next image is from a shoot for one of my previous internships. We were shooting on location at Marikina, and this was taken outside a little church with props that we had sourced for the shoot to align without the brand. I love this shot as it is one of my few favorites that are taken on film. I took this on a 35mm Fujicolor 200 on my Kodak Ektar H35 camera. The H35 is also my favorite film camera. It is the one I keep on me all the time as it is economical and sentimental. The day was also sunny, which boded well for the camera as it is not the best for low-exposure settings. The colors and the way the film was able to capture the detail is why this is one of my favorite film images I've ever taken.
This last image was taken in the second half of last year as my precious internship was holding a tour entitled “Senses in the City,” highlighting overlooked local architecture and spaces. For the second installment of the tour, we headed to the Metropolitan Theater in Manila, one of if not the only Art Deco style buildings. I took this image using my Canon G7x when we were at the highest vantage point of the theater and climbed to its incredible ceiling. It was a marvel to view and something I had to capture; with the dramatic ceiling lights and the dark lighting of the theater, it was truly an honor to be so close to and see every detail. The building, full of its art deco flairs and history, is something I would recommend everyone to visit (they offer free tours and movie screenings).
