The Examination Unit was just one of countless intelligence operations in the world during World War II. The following pages will outline some of these efforts both in Canada and abroad.
In conjunction with these decryption efforts in Ottawa, Canada was also training spies in unconventional warfare. Camp X was a top-secret spy school that hid in rural Ontario. The school not only trained new recruits but was also home to Hydra, a state-of-the-art communications facility. Canadians also worked on X and Y Intelligence Interception throughout the war. Across the pond, the British had their own decryption missions. Bletchley Park was a large-scale operation that sought to crack the infamous Enigma cipher machine.
