Application process
In April or otherwise specified each year, an announcement/invitation to express interest is published in the press and on the website of the University of Macedonia and the Department, specifying at least the following:
Categories of graduates/candidates who can apply for admission to the programme
The necessary formal and substantive qualifications of candidates
The method and criteria for assessing candidates
Dates for the submission of the relevant supporting documents
Candidates' applications are submitted online, collected (Gmail account required), recorded by the Secretariat of the programme and forwarded to the Coordination Committee of the programme.The required documents are submitted online to the Secretariat of the programme. Applications not accompanied by the necessary supporting documents or submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration in the selection procedure. The selection procedure will be completed in October or at an earlier date.
The Department's Council, following a justified recommendation of the Board, may set a non-refundable participation fee for the study of the candidate's file.
Criteria for evaluating candidates' applications
The evaluation of the documents is carried out by an Evaluation and Selection Committee, appointed by the Assembly of the Department, consisting of: a) Two (2) Professors and b) A member of the administrative staff, belonging to the Department's Secretariat.
The Coordinating Committee receives the shortlist of candidates and forwards it to the Council for approval.
The evaluation and classification of candidates is carried out by the Evaluation and Selection Committee in two phases:
In the first phase, candidates are assessed on a scale from 0 to 100 and each candidate is credited with a specific number of assessment points (a.p.) on this scale. The criteria per category, credited with p.m. are listed in the table below. The weighting in the first phase is 70%.
The second phase involves a remote interview with the shortlisted candidates conducted by the Evaluation and Selection Committee.
Those with equal grades are admitted at a rate of up to 10% of the maximum number of admissions.
The weighting factor in the second phase is 30%.
