Welcome to my Academic Activities page, where I share my journey as a dedicated educator, researcher, and mentor. As a Professor of Infectious Disease and Clinician, my work spans teaching, research, supervision, and collaborative efforts that contribute to advancing global health.
Teaching has always been one of my passions. As a professor at the University of Duhok, I have had the privilege of guiding students through complex medical concepts, particularly in infectious diseases and microbiology. I have lectured across various departments, including Medicine, Pharmacy, and Nursing. My teaching philosophy is centred around critical thinking and applied knowledge, ensuring that students are not only learning but also understanding how to apply their skills in real-world clinical settings.
Over the years, I have supervised more than ten postgraduate students, including those pursuing Master's, PhD, and Board certifications in internal medicine. I take pride in mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers. My goal as a mentor is to inspire curiosity and innovation, providing students with the tools and guidance they need to succeed in their academic and professional careers.
Research is the cornerstone of my academic career. My research focuses on infectious diseases, with a special emphasis on tuberculosis (TB), antimicrobial resistance, and molecular epidemiology at the University of Nottingham. My PhD research, conducted in collaboration with Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, was groundbreaking in the characterization of Mycobacterium tuberculosis strains in Duhok, Iraqi Kurdistan. I have worked closely with international institutions and colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to global efforts in fighting infectious diseases.
I am also actively involved in collaborative research, both locally and internationally. I have partnered with organizations such as the WHO and participated in global initiatives to improve disease management and control. I believe that collaboration is essential in addressing global health challenges, and I welcome opportunities to work with researchers worldwide.
Throughout my career, I have been honoured with various awards and recognitions. Most notably, I was awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) of Glasgow. This recognition is a testament to my contributions to clinical medicine, research, and teaching in the field of infectious diseases. Additionally, I have been invited to present my work at numerous international conferences, further contributing to the global discourse on infectious diseases.
As a lifelong learner, I am always seeking new opportunities to expand my knowledge and skills. I strongly believe that education never stops, and I continuously engage in professional development through workshops, conferences, and specialized training. My experiences in places such as Tehran, Glasgow, and Florida have enriched my understanding of infectious diseases and equipped me with cutting-edge knowledge that I pass on to my students and colleagues.
Thank you for visiting my Academic Activities page. I look forward to connecting with students, researchers, and collaborators who share a passion for advancing healthcare and science.
