TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Teaching is not a job. It is a lifestyle
Teaching is not a job. It is a lifestyle
Teaching Philosophy My teaching philosophy is rooted in a student-centered approach that promotes learning through critical thinking, problem-solving, and curiosity. I focus on creating an inclusive environment where students feel valued and empowered. By integrating real-world examples, case studies, and hands-on learning, I connect theory to practice, enhancing student engagement and knowledge retention.
I believe in facilitating learning rather than just delivering information. Through interactive discussions, group projects, and experiential learning, I encourage students to take ownership of their education, fostering independence and lifelong learning.
I have taught in diverse academic settings, including:
Arab International University – Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Engineering Lecturer.
Damascus University – Mechanical Engineering Lecturer.
Higher Institute of Science and Technology – CAD/CAM and FEA Instructor.
Kalamoon University – Engineering Curriculum Contributor.
University of Duhok (UOD) – Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering Professor and Director of Institutional Research, Planning, and Effectiveness.
A standout teaching moment was mentoring a group of engineering students struggling with CAD software. By introducing a project-based learning approach, they excelled and even won a national engineering competition.
Another memorable experience was guiding a Ph.D. student in developing a Finite Element Simulation algorithm for closed die forging, which led to a notable journal publication.
I build strong connections with students by promoting trust, respect, and mentorship. I encourage teamwork, collaboration, and independent thinking, ensuring students feel confident in expressing their ideas and engaging in meaningful discussions.
Professional Development I actively engage in professional development through projects such as the TEMPUS Project for Quality Assurance, DAAD-funded Higher Education Dialogue, and various strategic planning workshops. These experiences help me align my teaching methods with global educational standards and innovative practices.
Positive student feedback highlighting my ability to simplify complex concepts.
High student success rates in academic and professional pursuits.
Student achievements in engineering competitions and research publications.
Effective mentorship of postgraduate students who excel in academia and industry.
My dedication to innovation, student success, and educational excellence continues to inspire and empower the next generation of engineers and researchers.
