Fitness is more than just a number on a scale. In fact scales are often poor assessments when it comes to one's health and fitness! A traditional scale does not measure body composition, but rather your TOTAL weight. The number you see on the scale includes the weight from your bones, the water you carry, the food you ate 20 minutes ago, etc......That number can fluctuate even when you are dehydrated or hungry.
We know from the F.F.P. that exercise carries a much larger role in overall fitness and reduction of potential cardiovascular risk factors, as opposed to strictly the number we see on the scale. So what can we do to ensure we're doing enough? Thankfully, the American Heart Association has a list of recommended exercise guidelines for people of all ages to follow! Are you getting enough exercise? Click the link and find out!
Everyone's body is built differently and BMI does not take all these differences into account. It leaves out lean muscle mass, bone density, gender, and more! Even if you have a high BMI, that does not mean you are unhealthy. If you exercise, eat right, and listen to your body, the BMI number will not matter.
