The environment is one of the biggest influencers on weight and some of the major factors such as socioeconomic environment, food environment, and physical environment are key in maintaining a healthy weight.
A study by Kandice A. KapinosPh.D. and Olga YakushevaPh.D. measured the weight of college students living on campus. It was found that students living closer to dining halls snacked more and "exhibited more weight gain behaviors" than students who did not have quicker access. They also found that students living in dorms further from the gym also exercised less frequently than those living closer.
socioeconomical environment- social or economical status are factors that effect weight, include living in poverty, work, or neighborhood community
Food environment- Food location and availability that determines ones diet
