The Fat-Fit Paradox almost directly contradicts the Body Mass Index (BMI) system that we have all have known since we could remember. Andrew Weil, M.D., a Harvard Graduate and doctor of 40+ years, discusses the implications behind the word "obese" and how it realtes to us today in terms of how healthy we actually are.
In fact...in comparing the populations of obese and fit to non-obese and fit, it was found that there was no difference in all-cause mortality between the two groups.
The unfit population, regardless of obesity status, were found to be twice as likely at greater risk to all-cause mortality. (McAuley et al., 2011)
