Welcome to UNLV! 

New Faculty Orientation (NFO), which took place on August 10, 2026,  is our signature welcoming event for new academic faculty. It is an opportunity for you to meet other new colleagues, university administrators, and leaders from your academic unit. 

While the main orientation event has passed, there are still many opportunities new faculty can take advantage of as you begin the new semester.

New Faculty Academy is a year-long professional development program designed to support new academic faculty as they navigate their first year at UNLV. Through faculty panels, networking activities, and practical resources, participants will explore timely topics such as balancing teaching, research, and service; managing stress and rejection; increasing the visibility of their work; building mentoring and collaborative networks; and planning for long-term success. Along the way, participants will gain practical guidance on key faculty processes and expectations, connect with colleagues from across the university, and build a supportive community that extends beyond New Faculty Orientation.
