A popular talk was jointly organized by the Faculty Research Committee of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Jaffna, and the Jaffna Science Association (JSA) – Section B on 26th August 2025 at the Faculty Auditorium, Ariviyal Nagar, Kilinochchi.
Prof. Gamini Seneviratne, Senior Research Professor at the National Institute of Fundamental Studies (NIFS), Sri Lanka, delivered the talk on the topic “Microbial Biofertilizers for Legumes and Non-legumes: Pioneering Research and Applications of the NIFS.”
The event attracted an enthusiastic audience of over 300 participants, including students and staff from both the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Technology. Prof. Seneviratne shared insights from more than 40 years of pioneering research at NIFS, emphasizing the vital role of microbial biofertilizers in sustainable agriculture and their transformative applications in Sri
Lanka and beyond. The interactive session inspired both students and academics, sparking meaningful discussions on science-led solutions for sustainable farming.
