Best Presenters from the SLCNP 2026 (Undergraduates)

Ms. R. Dhilakshi received the Best Presenter Award her poster presentation, titled "Effect of coriander (Coriandrum sativum L.) leaf powder incorporation on cooking characteristics, antioxidant release, and in-vitro strach digestibility of parboiled white rice," at the Joint Clinical Nutrition Academic Sessions held on 4th & 5th July 2026, organized by the Sri Lanka College of Nutrition Physicians.

Best Presenters from the ICDA 2026 (Undergraduates)

Ms. S. Thurkka received the Best Presenter Award for her presentation, titled "Nitrification Inhibition by Karanja (Pongamia glabra Vent) Seed Powder and Its Extract" at the 12th International Conference on Dry Zone Agriculture (ICDA 2026), held on 24th June 2026 at the University of Jaffna.

Ms. A.K. Taniya received the Best Presenter Award for her presentation, "Effect of Different Drying Methods on Nutrient Retention Characteristics of the Pearl Millet- based Functional Food Supplement ingredients" at the 12th International Conference on Dry Zone Agriculture (ICDA 2026), held on 24th June 2026 at the University of Jaffna.

Ms. R.D.M. Sripriya received the Best Presenter Award for her presentation, "Nutritional Composition, Mineral Profile, Anti-nutritional Factors, and Anti- Diabetic Potential of Poruthumaan; An Underexplored Plant Species" at the 12th International Conference on Dry Zone Agriculture (ICDA 2026) , held on 24th June 2026 at the University of Jaffna.

Winner of the Spark Talk Competition (Undergraduates)

Ms. Taniya Ashok Kumar received the People's Choice Award in the Undergraduate Category of the Spark Talk Competition for her presentation, "Development and Characterization of a Pre-Cooked Pearl Millet-Based Supplementary Food Incorporated with Pearl Millet Microgreens and Legumes for Functional Food Applications." The competition was organized by the Jaffna Science Association (Section B), and the award was presented on 22 May 2026 at the University of Jaffna.

Winner of the Spark Talk Competition (Undergraduates)

Ms. Sivasamalai Vipulanandan won third place in the Undergraduate Category of the Spark Talk Competition for her presentation, "Production and Evaluation of Cassava Starch, Lime Waste, and Aloe Vera-Based Edible Film as a Food Packaging Material." The competition was organized by the Jaffna Science Association (Section B), and the award was presented at a ceremony held on 22 May 2026 at the University of Jaffna.

Outstanding Doctoral Research Award

Gold Medal

Dr. (Mrs.) S. Sivakanthan received the Outstanding Doctoral Research Award – Gold Medal from the Board of Study in Food Science and Technology awarded by the Postgraduate Institute of Agriculture (PGIA), University of Peradeniya for her PhD completed in 2024 at the PGIA Annual Congress 2025, held on 21st November 2025 at the Diamond Jubilee Auditorium, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Peradeniya.

NRC Merit Award for Scientific Research

This award is given for each of the second 100 papers published in journals with the highest SCImago Journal Ranking (SJR), in which 20% or more of the authors of the publication are Sri Lankan scientists with a Sri Lankan institutional affiliation.

Dr.Mrs.Subajiny Sivakanthan was awarded NRC Merit Award for Scientific Research for a scientific research published in the year 2019 (Optimization of the production of structured lipid by enzymatic interesterification from coconut (Cocos nucifera) oil and sesame (Sesamum indicum) oil using Response Surface Methodology LWT 2019, Vol 101, pp 723-730)

Flash Talk Presentation 2022 (Undergraduates)

Ms. G.M. Sanduni Nuwanthika Galagedara won second place in the Undergraduate Category of the Flash Talk Presentation for her presentation, "Production of green banana powder sauce from "Ambul" and "Puwalu" varieties and evaluate their physicochemical, antioxident properties and shelf- life." The competition was organized by the Annual Scientific Sessions of the Nutrition Society of Sri Lanka-2022 on 22nd and 23rd of January 2022.

Support Scheme for Supervision of Research Degrees (SUSRED) – 2020

Prof. (Mrs). N. Gnanavelrajah awarded for the Support Scheme for Supervision of Research Degrees (SUSRED) – 2020 in recognition of the supervision of MPhil of Ms. Abhiramy Thurairajah titled “Isolation of Denitrifying Bacteria and their potential use in Nitrate removal from well water of Jaffna District”. Awarded on 10th July 2023.

Late Dr. & Mrs. C. Jeyaratnam Memorial Gold Medal

This gold medal is awarded for obtaining highest OGPA in specialization in the subject of Agricultural Chemistry in the Award of Degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
