The strawflower scrub can be found in the afro-alpine zone in Africa in the regions of Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. They are a shrub that can reach heights from 15 to 120 cm and are covered in gray-greenish leaves that are clustered in the plant with white-yellowish flowers. These shrubs aren't threatened but can come across diseases and mold that can cause them to wilt.

They are distinguished by their size, especially that of their heads, with golden brown fur covering their body. This species of mole rat enjoys scavenging for food above ground and make their escapes underground. They are a primary food for Ethiopian wolves, who hunt by patiently waiting for this mole rat to leave their hole. But over time these mole rats have developed incisors that helps defend them from predators. This species is being threatened due to habitat loss from overgrazing by livestock.

Steppe Eagle's habitat consists of grasslands, rocky areas, savannas, wetlands, and even urban areas. Now this species numbers have been declining which put them on the list of endangered species due to the decrease of their habitat turning into farmlands and powerlines and other human made interferences in their habitat.

It can be linked to malnutrition in children in Ethiopia while affecting the economic aspect by contaminating the livestock and crops that get exported to other regions. Actions taken are mycotoxin regulations and testing, better storage quality of crops, and public awareness.
