Ethiopian wolves have a long connection with other wolves more specifically gray wolves and coyotes; all having similar physical structure with some variations. They all share the resemblance of being in the Canidae, with a large dog like body, carnivorous, and highly intelligent. The Ethiopian Wolf has a appendicular skeleton, composed of the front limb (thoracic limb) and hind limb (pelvic limb).

Interesting Characteristics:Ethiopian wolves are easily distinguished by their fiery orange/red fur; narrow skull that makes it easy for them will they scavenge for prey; spaced out small teeth that helps for eating preys. The under belly is white with a fluffy tail.

Head

First thing you would notice when looking at an Ethiopian wolf's face is their pointed ears filled in with white fur, perked up like a radar in order to hear their pack or find their scurrying food. Their face consists of various white marking found under their eyes, on their cheek and underneath their chin. With a long snout that helps them get their prey buried in holes; followed by spaced out small teeth. The borders of their lips even their gums are black in color.

Thoracic Limb

Ethiopian wolves have a very nimble psychic which helps them during hunting and assist them when building their dens which consists of a network of burrows they live in. Their coyote/fox like slim build helps them in their natural habitat to sneak around and helps them reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour with their long legs. Their front paws have 5 toes including a dewclaw which is different form their hind paws that have 4 toes, this trait is very common in the Canidae family.

Hind Limbs

The lower half of the Ethiopian wolf provides the strength and the speed; helping when the need to pounce and attack and with the stability in their Afro-Alpine area that consists of mountains and desserts and grasslands. The ends of their legs are white and their black bushy tail that can be as long as 40 centimeters, which helps with communicating with members of their pack in the form of tail wagging or show their focus by keeping their tail low when blending in their environment looking for food.
