Speaking Requirement
If a student has an official accommodation IEP/504 in regards to speaking (formal or informal speeches, graded discussions), the English Department is committed to meeting those accommodations. If a student does not have paperwork that exempts them from public speaking, they will be required to fulfill this required part of our board-approved curriculum. Inquiries regarding alternative arrangements place an unfair burden on the teacher. Because we believe in and follow the tenants of Standards Based Grading, students should be assured that they will have multiple opportunities to improve their speaking performances when needed.
