High School: Responsible Use
High school students have more flexibility, but we expect them to use electronic devices
responsibly. They can have and use electronic devices before/after school, between passing
periods, during lunch, and with teacher permission for educational purposes.
It’s important to remember that any use of electronic devices that disrupts the educational
environment or violates the rights of others is not allowed.
Exceptions
Students will be allowed to possess and use an electronic mobile device if it’s part of their 504
plan or IEP, or in the event of an emergency that threatens the safety of students, staff, or others.
Our Partnership in Setting Expectations
School staff will teach students these expectations and redirect them if they don’t follow the
guidelines. If a student uses their device without permission, disciplinary actions will be taken.
These measures are designed to help students learn responsible technology use and may include:
● Redirection and reminders
● Contacting home
● Loss of privileges
● Storing the device in a secure place for the day
● Requiring a parent or guardian to pick up the device from school
