Eagle Nation Families,

We are in the home stretch - one month of school remains! As we finish April, we will continue to focus on attendance and class time. Parents, you should receive notification in Infinite Campus if your student is marked tardy or misses multiple periods in a row of classes. Please continue to call the attendance line if your child is sick or has to miss school.

Our last day of school is Thursday, May 23rd, and will be a half day of student attendance. Families must refrain from pulling students early to take vacations; every day of attendance counts. We want our students to have the opportunity to learn all grade-level content before moving along to the next level, AND our staff has many celebrations and fun activities planned for the end of the year!

Let's lock in and show how great it is to be a part of Eagle Nation with our respectful, responsible, and safe behaviors! Thanks for your support and a great semester.

Advisory Update (for Fall 2024)

Beginning with the 2024-2025 school year, middle-level students will continue to attend and participate in an Advisory period. Advisory in Unit 5 aims to nurture the whole student and operates on the premise that a middle school student in Unit 5 is more likely to succeed with a strong network of support and committed adult advocates within the school. At the heart of the program is the student’s relationship with the advisor and their advisory group, cultivated throughout the school year.

The students' advisory period will be the first period they report to each morning. It will run from 8:45 A.M. to 9:05 A.M. Students will be scheduled into a grade-level Advisory group that includes students from the Team they are assigned to, which teacher advisors lead. After the students’ advisory period, they will begin to move through their regular school schedule, which will run at shortened times (see Advisory Schedule below).

The foundation of the Advisory program is the Social and Emotional Learning Standards (SEL). They will inform classroom Advisory practices and the activities and lessons teacher advisors and students engage in together. Advisory supports the social and emotional well-being of each student while also fostering a sense of community within the advisory group and beyond. Advisory sessions provide a safe environment in which students practice responsible self-reflection, respect, and safe strategies for working through academic, social, and personal challenges.

If you have questions about the middle school Advisory program, please get in touch with your school principal.

MVP of the Week

This year, let's share positive praise for Evans' staff by completing the MVP of the Week Form. I will then anonymously share the praise each week in my staff notes! Keep the positive energy flowing. Go Team! #oneteamonemission

Evans Teacher Appreciation Week

May 6th - May 10th is Teacher Appreciation Week!

Our PTO has planned some amazing treats and activities, but we could use some additional parent assistance. The biggest needs are donations for prizes and help with our Tailgate Lunch on Thursday. Please check out the latest needs on the Sign-Up Genius. We are also accepting donations of baskets for the teacher raffle; this can be from families or businesses that you might be connected to!  Can't help with teacher appreciation week, no worries - we also need volunteers for next year - specifically serving on our parent board. Please reach out to Mrs. Boyd if you would be willing to help in any way. Thank you!

Check out our Amazon Wish List if you are looking to make a donation to EJHS!

Donate without spending any extra money by scanning your Box Tops for Education by getting the app and selecting Evans Jr. High for your school!
