Objectives & Command Terms
The assessment objectives for design technology reflect those parts of the aims that will be formally assessed either internally or externally. Command terms will be used frequently in examination questions, other terms may be used to direct students to present an argument in a specific way. These command terms indicate the depth of treatment required

List - Give a number of possible answers using short bullet points.

Calculate - Obtain a numerical answer showing the relevant stages in the work. Answer the sum & show working.

Give a detailed account. Using the information in the paper, make 2 clear points. 1 mark per point.
Estimate - Show working to achieve an approximate answer.

Take an idea, and develop it with a brief explanation.
Explain / 설명하다 / 説明する / giải thích / 解释 / erläutern / Expliquer
Give a detailed account including reasons & causes. I.e.Make the point, develop the idea & develop it again with reasons. If you have to explain multiple concepts or contexts, make headings for each.
Compare / 비교와 대조 / 比較対照 / so sánh, đối chiếu / 比较和对比 / vergleichen / Mettre en comparaison
Give an account of similarities & differences between 2 or more items or situations referring to both brackets all of them throughout. Pick a similarity or difference, develop it & develop it again with reasoning.
Discuss / 의논하다 / 議論、論じる / thảo luận / 讨论 / discutieren / Discuter
Offer a considered & balanced review that includes a range of arguments, factors or hypotheses. Options/conclusions should be presented clearly with supporting & appropriate evidence.
Evaluate / 평가하기 / 評価する / đánh giá / 评价 / auswerten / Évaluer
Make an appraisal by weighing up the strengths & limitations. I.e. Make the point, develop the point & develop/justify the point including advantages /disadvantages

Propose a solution, hypothesis or other possible answers. I.e. Give a feasible idea, develop the idea & develop it again with reasoning.
