Your child will need the following clothes for PE:
A pair of blue shorts and a UNIS t-shirt
A pair of sweatpants and a sweatshirt for colder weather
A pair of sneakers
White socks
Students in JS are expected to come to school wearing their PE uniform on the days they have PE as they WILL NOT be changing in the locker rooms.
Jewelry is not permitted to be worn during Physical Education classes due to safety protocols. We ask that students remove items of jewelry before class starts or not wear it on days they have PE. Watches and Fitness Trackers may be worn for activities such as Fitness but students must first check with their teacher.
J2-4 Only
As part of our Physical Education curriculum, swimming is offered to students in JS (J2-J4). Students will swim once a week during the term at a designated time during their schedule. They will use the swimming pool located in the Waterside Plaza complex immediately north of the UNIS campus. Their PE teachers and in JS, the Teaching Assistant will remain throughout the lesson and will escort students to and from the pool.
All students will require the following items:
Girls: one-piece bathing suit, preferably in a plain dark color
Boys: speedos/jammers/ swim shorts, no longer than the knee, preferably in a plain dark color
Swim cap (mandatory for all)
Goggles are optional but recommended
Towel
Flip-flops or water shoes
A rash guard is permitted but not required
Labeled swim bag, preferably a backpack big enough to hold everything
Specific details about the swim program and the dates that your child’s class will be swimming will be shared closer to the start of the school year.
Children who engage in recreational reading increase their vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension as they enjoy books. Find our librarians recommendations below. You can access more resources at the UNIS Junior School Library.
We hope that this digital padlet will be fun and engaging. It was created for UNIS students to remember what they’ve learned and to help them prepare for the next school year!
