I’m Giulia Mattarozzi, a second-year Master’s student in Organic Chemistry at the University of Pavia. I’m 23 years old and come from Cremona, where I attended a humanities-focused high school. I later decided to take a different path and study chemistry at Unipv.
For my literature-based Bachelor’s thesis, I worked with Prof. Filippo Doria on a peptide used in cosmetics. I proposed a topic related to cosmetics because it has interested me for a long time, although during my studies I developed a broader interest in chemistry. In my second year, I took a course taught by Prof. Pirota that covered several topics, including peptide synthesis. I found it particularly engaging and asked her whether I could work with her on my Master’s thesis.
I have lived at Collegio Maino, a university residence, for five years. To me, it is like a big family. I have been part of several committees there, and people who have worked with me say I am very efficient and a good cook.
