On April 30th, 3 members, and Mrs. Damro headed to Ames for Iowa Youth Institute!
We started our day off early leaving the high school at 6:45! After arriving at the memorial union we got registered and gathered together to hear some speeches before we separated into our roundtable groups. There were more than 30 groups of 8-10 students and 2-3 experts. We got to hear some great food insecurity solutions from other students around the state.
Members that attended IYI this year were Brandon Frush, RaeLynn Wildeboer, and Tia Butler. All 3 of these members are now Borlaug Scholars and were rewarded of their hard work with a $1,000 scholarship to the Iowa State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
In a few weeks we will find out if any of these members advanced to Global Youth Institute where they are granted another scholarship of $2,000!
We appreciate all the hard work and time that these members spent, writing papers that will help solve global hunger and food insecurites across the globe!
On April 17th, we hosted our annual chapter awards ceremony in the high school auditorium!
We highlighted different events we have attended and hosted over the year, as well as we also highlighted all of our members' hard work through the year by handing out awards.

This is the third consecutive year that we have taken High Schoolers, Middler Schoolers, and Parents, to Sundown Mountain in Dubuque, Iowa!
This year we sent 20 members and parents, it was a great time for all, with Casey's pizza to enjoy for supper. Unfortunately, we did have a slight delay as our bus lost power on the side of the road, luckily we were able to get a second one!
All in all, it was still an awesome experience for everyone!
On Sunday, August 27, 2023, we hosted our first chapter meeting! The meeting was attended by all officers and over 20 members. We covered many different exciting things that happened this summer and what we have planned moving forward. The meeting covered introducing our 2023-24 officer team, FFA dues, official dress & jackets, chapter apparel, national convention, fruit sales, joining remind for updates, pancake breakfasts, event sign-ups, and upcoming events. To get more in-depth detail, click here to see our agenda summary!
After all the business was finished, we enjoyed some delicious pulled pork sandwiches and mac and cheese! Once everyone was done eating, we played ganes to appreciate the beautiful weather. It was fun and full of laughter with a beautiful sunset at the very end!
Thank you to everyone who was able to make it! We hope you enjoyed it! To those who couldn't make it this time, we missed you and hope you will be able to make it to our next chapter meeting!
