History:
The La Porte City FFA Chapter was chartered on April 25, 1935.
The La Porte and Dysart schools joined to make the Union Community School District in 1988. With this merge, both the Dysart and La Porte City chapters formed one chapter currently known as the La Porte-Dysart FFA Chapter. It was chartered on December 1, 1988, and the first FFA advisor was Ronald Borton.
The La Porte-Dysart FFA chapter is part of the Southwest sub-district and the Northeast district.

The La Porte City FFA Historical and Ag Museum recognized as the first museum of its kind in Iowa, preserves and interprets the history of rural Iowa communities and offers opportunities for audiences to connect with local history and the state's agricultural heritage. It was established in 1970 by the La Porte City FFA chapter. The museum keeps the legacy of rural Iowa communities alive and accessible to the public through exhibits, programs, and research.
