Mrs. Emily Damro experienced her first La Porte-Dysart FFA activity as a student at Union High School. She now is the Agriculture instructor and FFA advisor at Union High School.
Get to know Mrs. Damro:
Hi everyone! My name is Mrs. Emily Damro and I live south of La Porte City with my husband and children. I grew up active in both the 4-H and FFA programs and found my passion for agriculture while collecting experiences such as attending National Convention, participating in contests, volunteering, and building friendships that still stand today! I graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in Agriculture Communications in 2017. I have several years of experience working with youth programs as an Iowa State University Extension and Outreach and Iowa 4-H professional. In 2023, I obtained a masters degree in Youth Development from Iowa State University. I am excited to join the classroom full-time to teach agriculture and serve as advisor for the La Porte-Dysart FFA chapter. My advice to new and returning FFA members is that the best way to learn something new is to jump in and try it- contests, science fair, employment, and more. Give it a go! I look forward to creating a positive learning environment for my students to explore ag while building connections with each other and other area FFA members.

Mrs. Carly Ahrendsen experienced her first La Porte-Dysart FFA activity during the 2020-2021 school year while she was student teaching. She now is a Science and Agriculture teacher at Union Middle School.
Get to know Mrs. Ahrendsen:
Hello All! My name is Ms. Carly Ahrendsen. I am from Keystone Iowa and attended Benton Community High School. My passion for agriculture started when I was a little girl as I grew up on a farm where my dad raised corn, soybeans, hay, and feeder cattle. I was active in 4-H and FFA throughout my years of school. I graduated in December of 2021 from Iowa State University with a degree in Agriculture Education after completing my student teaching at Union High School. I am now at the middle school teaching 7-8 science and Ag. My advice to those in FFA is to try something new that scares you. Step out of your comfort zone and make yourself better. You will never regret it.
