Task:
Module 6 consisted of a training session at Aurora Auto combining cutting-edge technology with innovative pedagogy to equip employees with the necessary skills to utilize augmented reality (AR) tools effectively. Aligned with AECT Standard 2 - Content Pedagogy: Assessing/Evaluating, this training guides participants through an inquiry process that assesses the adequacy of learning and evaluates the instruction and implementation of educational technologies and processes grounded in reflective practice.
During this intensive 4-hour training session, employees dive into the world of AR through hands-on experience with three different AR apps: Google Lens, CamFind, and TinEye. Through the use of their company-supplied digital devices, including cell phones and tablets, employees explore the benefits, challenges, and applications of each tool. This interactive training empowers employees to select the AR tool that best aligns with their department's needs, whether in sales, service, or tech.
The training session culminates in a practical assessment task where employees have 60 minutes to complete various activities using each of the three AR tools. This experiential exercise allows employees to assess their learning and temporarily implement the educational technology through practice. Ultimately, employees engage in reflective practice by reconvening to discuss their preferences and collectively decide on the AR tool to be adopted company-wide.
Through the implementation of the ASSURE model, we analyze learners' needs, state clear training objectives, select appropriate methods and materials, utilize cutting-edge technology, require active learner participation, and evaluate the effectiveness of the training session. As we navigated the learning curve of integrating AR into our daily operations at Aurora Auto, we are confident that this training will not only enhance productivity and efficiency but also pave the way for a more immersive and engaging work environment.

AECT Standard 2 - Content Pedagogy: Assessing/Evaluating:
Participants will be introduced to augmented reality tools via an onsite training session that lasts 4 hours. The training will begin by informing the employees of the new initiative of the company that includes incorporating augmented reality for the purposes of maintaining a with-it-ness culture and to increase efficiency and accuracy.
The employees will be using their company digital devices - each is supplied with a company cell phone and padlet. The employees will need to download three separate AR apps as they have been given the opportunity to decide which specific tool the company will adopt.
The training will consist of learning how to use the tool, its benefits, challenges, and ease of use.
Next, the employees will learn how the tool can be used in their specific department: sales, service, and tech. This phase of the training allows for the employees to take part in an inquiry process that assesses the adequacy of learning.
Once the tools are established and a Q&A session takes place, the employees will be given a task sheet to complete within 60-minutes. The task sheet will consist of multiple items that the employees will need to complete using each of the three AR tools. During this phase the employees are assessing the adequacy of what they have learned and temporarily implementing the educational technology through practice.
The last section of the training allows the employees to reconvene, and discuss which product they like the most, and make a decision on which they will adopt into their new augmented reality program. In this phase the employees will be taking part in reflective practice. There will also be a survey associated with the training that employees will fill out within one week of the training session.
While the adoption of AR at Aurora Auto will potentially need to incorporate a learning curve, “The applications of AR are vast and promising, ranging from more effective training to productivity enhancements to better customer experiences” (Brue, 2023).
