This initiative aims to empower learners within Compass Core by guiding them through the implementation process of Credly digital badges, enhancing their professional growth, and fostering a supportive community of practice. Through the immersive video experience, learners navigate the new technology-supported instruction seamlessly, allowing them to incorporate Credly badges into their professional development journey. The project leverages adult learning principles, emphasizing self-directed learning and personalized learning experiences to enhance participant engagement and knowledge retention.
The success of the program is measured through program analytics and video performance data, enabling the team to reflect on the effectiveness of the design and assess the impact on learner engagement and enrollment in the ELITE Instructor Certification Program. Utilizing the iterative Lewin's Change Management Model, the team proactively addresses any challenges and refines the program to meet the needs and expectations of participants. Upon viewing the video, learners will be equipped to utilize Credly as a professional development tool to earn an ELITE Instructor certification digital badge within Compass Core. With learners comprising corporate and government-trained adults, the program caters to individuals with varying levels of experience and technological proficiency.
By implementing Lewin's Change Management Model - Unfreeze, Change, and Refreeze - Compass Core aims to create a culture of acceptance, understanding, and celebration around the adoption of Credly badges. The Refreeze stage culminates in a formal acknowledgment and recognition of badge earners, further enhancing motivation and engagement within the program.
AECT Standard 4 (Professional Knowledge and Skills): Candidates design, develop, implement, and evaluate technology-rich learning environments within a supportive community of practice.
Reflection on Practice Indicator -- Candidates analyze and interpret data and artifacts and reflect on the effectiveness of the design, development, and implementation of technology-supported instruction and learning to enhance their professional growth.
For this scenario, we will be supplying the candidates with a video (technology-supported instruction) that will introduce and guide them through the new implementation process of Credly badges. Adult learning principles dive into how adults attain and remember new information, “One of the fundamental tenets of adult education is the value of self-directed learning, or the capacity to take charge of one’s learning process. Technology can help with this. By giving students access to a variety of tools and materials that they can study at their own speed, technology can support self-directed learning” (2024). The information/instruction throughout the video will be used to enhance the candidate's professional growth. In the case of this project, the team will be using video and program analytics as a way to reflect on the success of the program. If the video is successful, we will see more individuals signing up for the ELITE Instructor Certification Program. If the video is unsuccessful, we will see little-to-no increase in individuals signing up for the program. If the pilot group is not deemed successful, then the team will regroup to reflect on the design and collect data to determine the performance gap. This iterative process is reflective of Lewin’s Change Management Model which takes place throughout three phases: Unfreeze, Freeze, and Refreeze.
