Can we have OJT this summer 2020?
Our concern is the safety and health of our students. We will abide by government regulations to ensure that the pandemic contagion will be prevented through social/physical distancing as necessary as possible. If OJT is not yet possible because of government regulations for the protection of our citizens and the community, the adviser will provide alternative learning activities/ requirements where you can finish the OJT without violating any government regulation.
Who will take the Pre-board Exams?
Before Enhanced Community Quarantine (EQC), Individual Examinations and Assessments were administered equivalent to 60% of the Final Grade. The Pre-Board Examinations which constitute the 40% of Final Grade on Correlation Courses should have been given last March 26 -27, 2020 but due to ECQ, the examinations were not conducted. Given the fact that the final grade is due on May 4, 2020, and the closure of the 2nd semester is on May 7, 2020, administration of the Pre-board examination will not be possible. Hence, Individual Examinations and Assessments shall be considered as the basis of Final Grade for each of the Correlation Subjects (Correlation 1, Correlation 2 and Correlation 3) as follows:
40% Weekly Assessment + 60% Individual Exam
Students who got transmuted scores of at least 75% will be given the corresponding grade and students who got scores lower than 75% will be given IP (In Progress) grade. Those students with IP grade are required to take the Pre-Board Examination.
When is the Pre-board Exam for Correlation classes?
The Pre-Board Examinations will be administered on or before August 15, 2020, but with fervent prayers that the current situation will get better by then.
The Office of the Dean shall ensure that everyone will be given an equal opportunity to take the Pre-Board Examination.
Please be on alert for advisories from the College of EA as we will give updates based on new government guidelines.
***How will the grades be computed after the Pre-Board Examination?
Grade will be computed as follows:
40% Weekly Assessments + 60% Pre-Board Exam
Students who got at least 75% (40% WA + 60% PE) during the Pre-Board Examination will be given the equivalent passing grade and are considered graduates of May 2020. An Official Transcript of Records will be issued valid for board examination. Payment of P1,000 is not required to change the IP grade to the new numerical grade. The Dean or Program Head shall secure the Request to Change IP Grade from the Office of the University Registrar and submit the accomplished form with their signatures.
With almost a month still left for the 2nd semester, will the University consider refund for some of the unutilized miscellaneous fees?
Yes, the University intends to refund/credit to the student accounts some portion of the following Miscellaneous Fees:
20% of Energy Fee
20% of Internet Fee
10% of Library Fee
For those who have already paid in full, the amount shall be credited to their accounts next semester; while for those who have not yet paid, the amount shall be deducted from their outstanding balances.
For other Miscellaneous fee items, the University deem it utilized or can still be utilized, to wit:
Laboratory Fee - Actual expenses have already been incurred. Catch up classes will still be conducted upon resumption of classes thus those who missed them shall still utilize laboratory during their catch-up sessions
Athletic Fee – The University continues to pay for salaries of coaches & trainers even with ECQ. Athletes’ benefits have not been curtailed.
Medical/Dental Fee – Even during ECQ, the University continued to provide 24/7 medical support to its students and track their health status. UNC has also enrolled all students to MDKonsulta—a telehealth service for free.
IMC Fee – This relates to purchases and maintenance of projectors and television sets that were already installed in every classroom.
Library Fee - The UNC Library continues to deliver services to students, faculty and researchers. Students can access the online services that the Library Office have shared to its students, thus a smaller portion was considered as unutilized and will be refunded as shown above.
Specific guidelines on this can be expected to be issued subsequently.
***How about tuition fee, can I expect to have a refund?
No. Tuition fee is related to the delivery of academic instruction, primarily intended to pay the learning instructors/professors. The University is committed to complete the learning deliverables this semester through various flexible learning approaches. The faculty and administration of UNC ensure that there is continuity in learning even under ECQ. For those who do not have access or connectivity, catch-up learning sessions are already programmed to commence on August 3-15, 2020 or once ECQ is lifted and academic activities will be allowed to resume.

When and how do we proceed with our thesis defense?
We prepared three options for students:
For students with stable connectivity, we will use Google Hangout Meet for the online defense. The defense proceedings shall be within 55 minutes for every proponent.
Mobilization & Orientation (call audio/ video set up, etc ) 5 min
Defense Proper 40 min
Panel Deliberation 10 min
For students with unstable connectivity, the students can record video/audio presentations and email it along with their PPT presentation to the class adviser. The defense proceedings shall be within 55 minutes for every proponent, same as in 1. During the scheduled defense, the Thesis Mentors will call the Presenter through their cellphone number. The voice call will be fed through a speaker. In effect, the panelists and mentors in the Google Hangout Meeting will be able to hear the student as he/she answers the questions, and vice versa.
For students with no connection at all and do not have the means to record and send their presentation and to participate in an online defense, they will be given a grade of In-Progress (IP). This is NOT a failed grade. Students in this category will be given a chance to complete their Final Grade on or before August 15, 2020, but with fervent prayers that the current situation will get better. The Office of the Dean shall ensure that everyone will be given an equal opportunity to defend their thesis/research.

If I choose Flexi Kit which is modular, am I required to buy the tablet?
All G4 to Senior High students should have the tablet with stored modules regardless of the chosen modality whether Flexi Tech or Flexi Kit. The tablet will ensure that the student will have access to lessons even if there's no Internet connection nor power supply.
