4th International Conference on
Civil Engineering and Construction Technology
ICECon 2026
(A sub-conference under the umbrella of the BICEST 2026 conference)
In collaboration between the Civil Engineering Programme and the Advanced Construction Technology Recognised Research Lab (ACT-RRL) of Universiti Malaysia Sabah, ICECon2026 provides a dynamic platform for engineers, researchers, academics, and industry professionals to share knowledge and innovations. With the theme “Advancing Civil Engineering Through Innovation and Sustainability,” ICECon2026 highlights sustainable materials, advanced structural systems, digitalised construction management, resilient geotechnical solutions, smart transportation, and eco-friendly water and environmental engineering practices. The conference aims to foster collaboration, inspire technological advancement, and promote resilient, low-carbon engineering practices across multiple disciplines. By connecting global experts and promoting collaborative engagement, ICECon2026 strives to advance research and practical solutions that address today’s environmental challenges and shape a sustainable and intelligent built environment.
Materials and Structural Engineering:
Focusing on the advancement of materials and structural systems that support sustainable development. Topics include low-carbon, advanced, and composite materials designed for enhanced performance and environmental responsibility. It also covers structural analysis, computational mechanics, and modelling techniques for efficient and resilient design. In addition, research on structural health monitoring and diagnostics is encouraged to promote safety, durability, and long-term infrastructure integrity.
Construction Engineering & Management:
Focusing on innovation in project planning, cost control, safety, and risk management (HSE) forms the backbone of this theme. It embraces the digital transformation of the construction industry through Building Information Modelling (BIM), digital twins, automation, robotics, and 3D printing technologies. Equally important are topics related to construction logistics, productivity enhancement, and lean methods, as well as the integration of remote sensing and GIS tools for effective construction monitoring and asset management.
Geotechnical Engineering:
Exploring advances in geotechnical practices that ensure stability and performance of soil and foundation systems. Areas of interest include ground improvement, soil-structure interaction, and the design of foundations, retaining walls, and dams. Research papers on slope stability, geo-hazards, soil dynamics, and earthquake geotechnics is also welcome. Additional topics include tunnelling, deep excavations, anchorage systems, site investigation, rehabilitation, and geo-environmental engineering for sustainable ground solutions.
Highway & Transportation Engineering:
Contributing to the fields covering a broad spectrum of topics, including pavement materials and design, highway geometry and drainage, and traffic engineering involving operations, safety, and simulation. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), connected and automated vehicles, and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, all of which are driving the transformation toward safer, smarter, and more sustainable transportation networks.
Water, Environmental & Sustainability:
Focussing on water-related and environmental aspects essential for sustainable development. Areas include hydrology, urban drainage, and flood management, as well as water resources, irrigation, water quality, and security. We also welcome research papers in environmental engineering, pollution control, and waste management. In addition, studies on ecology, sustainable land development, and nature-based solutions are encouraged to promote resilience and harmony between the built and natural environments.
Subject to the decision by the editors and peer-reviewers, all accepted papers will be considered for publication in either:
i) Scopus-indexed journal (as a full article); or
ii) Scopus-indexed proceeding volume; or
iii) non-indexed proceeding volume.
This ensures broad academic visibility, rigorous peer recognition, and global dissemination of the authors’ contributions.
