Description of competition:
Short videos are powerful tools to improve language learning. These videos expose learners to real spoken language and real communication among people. This is useful in helping learners to understand ideas and issues that are currently discussed such as SDGs.
Thus, this activity gives students the opportunity to showcase their responses related to the issue highlighted using appropriate language.
Objective(s):
To develop critical thinking skills among students;
To enhance speaking skills in using the language;
To motivate students to listen to educational public speaking videos.

Guidelines:
The competition is only open to UMP students with the result of MUET band 3 and below.
Those who are selected as winners will become the representatives of UMP for English Language Carnival (ELCA) that will be held in IIUM.
Participation:
Individual
3-4 people per submission
Task:
Participants are to choose a short video from the list provided then record a 5-minute review/respond to the issue in the most interesting and creative way (monologue/ sing/ rap/ act/ poetry etc.). The scripts/lyrics of the performances must be original. All members must perform or appear in the video and upload it on TikTok.
