Description of competition:
Community engagement concept is promoting the idea of involvement and participation in an organization for the welfare of the community.
It can be volunteering at food banks, homeless shelters, emergency assistance programs, neighborhood cleanup programs and so forth. As a result, community engagement projects build deeper, stronger and more trusting relationships between public organizations and communities. Students at tertiary level are encouraged to be involved in such programs to expose them to community work and improve their social skills.
Plan and record your journey in a community engagement project and submit your work to us to stand a chance to win a prize worth RM150!
Objective(s):
To encourage students to participate in volunteer work;
To cultivate responsibilities and accountability among youths;
To motivate students to use the English language proficiently and naturally.

Guidelines:
The competition is only open to UMP students with the result of MUET band 3 and below.
Those who are selected as winners will become the representatives of UMP for English Language Carnival (ELCA) that will be held in IIUM.
Participation:

3 to 4 people per group
Task:
Students are required to record a short 5-minute video of them conducting a small-scale community engagement project. It can be as simple as cleaning the animal shelter, homeless shelter, maintaining the hostel garden, giving free breakfast to students and staff, helping farmers to set up a local market and many more. Students can prepare the dialogue by stating the objectives of the community engagement, who are the people involved and the outcome of the work. Tasks can be done with a team of 3-4 members.
