Face processing refers to the many different ways we get information from looking at a face. Looking at a face for just a few seconds we can guess if someone is familiar or a stranger, young or old, happy or sad.
Psychologists test children's ability to see differences between two faces or if they can remember one face better than another face. This is done in lost of different ways, but mostly includes showing pictures of faces and then asking questions about the faces. How good are you at remembering faces you have seen before? How good are you at guessing how someone is feeling? or How hold someone might be? Psychologists find that we are really good at processing faces that are most similar to faces we see on a regular basis and aren't as good at remember faces that are not seen quite as often.
