THE SNAKE AND TURTLE METHOD OF ECLIPSE PREDICTION

The mysterious and powerful alignment or conjunction of the Moon, Sun and Earth as seen from Earth can be called a "syzygy " (sizzijee) in the Greek word for "to yoke two animals together to plow."
Meton of Athens was a Greek who in 432 BC described how 235 months in 19 years could be a possible eclipse syzygy of almost 6940 days (see rightmost bullseye below).
The ancient Babylonians preferred to count by the number 60 and keep track of time cycles by wedge shapes in mud tablets (cuneiform writing). Today this looks like the second and minute marks on a circular and pre-digital clock face. This 60 number they called a SAR. This is how degrees became six of these 60s in a 360 degree circle and each degree of arc also divided into smaller minutes and seconds of arc. We Dakotas measured a degree by extending our arm and holding out a finger. Imagine 360 fingers all around you at the belly button CHEKPA center! We not only measured with finger(s), but hand (nape), and foot (siha), and cubit (wichishpa) and other measurements. For example: i foot = 3 hands! Using body-based measurements likely occured globally as Sky and Earth were measured in the KAPEMNI way.
So predicting BOTH WHEN AND ALSO WHERE the eclipse path was visible from becomes a great challenge for humans. We also see how our animal relatives behave during thes several minutes of totality to hours of light loss and gain around the totality place and time as it moves like a snake shadow across the Turtle Island's back (North America).
How well does the Snake and Turtle method work at predicting eclipses?
See 3 bullseyes above and 8 more below in the pipestone colored space above for how these were calculated by the Turtle and Snake Method. To learn more about this method and how accurately and precisely it works see Rock and Gould (2018) in section 4.
What is the Snake and Turtle Method? (as Rock calls it)
[This example shows how each mound is also turtle shell year to be multiplied by the mound diameter, and then the three values are summed and divided by 3 for the Intermediate Eclipse Cycle = 6797 days = 18.61 years...but in this case is 6795 days!
to give a 2 day warning of a possible eclipse (0.03% error).
This method can give close predictions of when, but not where, which requires knowledge of related eclipse families that cycle around the globe every third time, but not exactly at the same location. This could also have been recorded and known. See the example of the Shawnee brothers, Tecumseh and Tenskwatawa who predicted the June 6, 1806 eclipse for William Henry Harrison. He burned Prophetstown, killed Tecumseh, and would become the 9th president, and the shortest term of office at 1 month in 1841.

ROCK CALLS THIS "THE TURTLE AND SNAKE METHOD" OF CALCULATING SEVERAL POSSIBLE ECLIPSES BY TRYING DIFFERENT LUNAR PERIODS WITH THE 13 X 28 = 364 TURTLE!
In the chart below [in Rock and Gould (2018), by using 13 x 28 (as shown in the calculation figure directly above) or by substituting:
13 x 29.2 or 13 x 29.53 or 12 x 29.2 , we can see how hitting the three different bullseyes of the 18 year and 19 year and intermediate 18.61 year work well , or not as well by the error for that combination. The BEST BULLSEYE is the Turtleshell 13 x 28 as seen using REMA's 3 tail shaker mound's [18 - 18 - 20] dimensions (to achieve 99.97% or 9,997 arrows in bullseye out of 10,000 possible).

The Western Colonial view of snakes is negative for many cultural reasons, but this is not the case here on Turtle Island or in Asia where every 12 years, a new lunar year is associated with Snake qualities and values.
Jan. 29, 2025 begins the
Year of the Snake (as in 1977, 1989, 2001 and 2013).

Dec. 21, 2012 was the Maya 13th BAKTUN beginning [13. 0. 0. 0. 0 = 1, 872,000 days] which starts another first period of 5 of these, for a total of 5 x 1,872,000 = 9,360,000 days = 25,627 "tropical" years =
= 26,000 x 360 days (called a TUN = a type of year and rock in Mayan)
26,000 TUN periods = 25,627 "tropical" years as defined from spring equinox to spring equinox when the snake appears to descend the 91 steps and 9 layers of the KUKULKAN pyramid. The actual precessional wobble is 25,676 "tropical"years or only 49 fewer years (99.8%)!
25,627 + 49 =25,676 years

Rock agrees that these spirals not only represent the 9 + 9 = 18 years of the lunar standstills for soli-lunar eclipse predictions (count outward from summer solstice @center), but also that these spirals are serpent symbols because of the multitude of diamondback rattlers that protect this sacred site. How is our barred spiral galaxy with a central black hole like a giant, coiled serpent?
How can we help others see the sacred/undesecrated/undisturbed and unchanged?
How can we help to preserve and Indigenously interpret such sites, as possible...if possible?
