These 2020 Summer Teach-Ins are our response to the critical moment we are living through as we reckon with the racial violence that is endemic throughout our nation and as we live in communities struggling for systemic change.
Public scholarship bridges the boundaries between the academy and the larger communities in which we live and work. Our research and teaching seek to engage with community members and students in order to address critical issues and think creatively about the role of higher education in these critical times. Our interdisciplinary, intercollegiate, and intercity partnerships creates a space for our communities to be in conversation, test new ideas, and offer support.
This work is partially funded by a two-year (2019-2021) Interdisciplinary Collaborative Workshop Grant from the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. These summer teach-ins are the product of our collaborative efforts and are made possible by our generous sponsors and the hard work of our organizing team.
