Additional steps for international transfer coursework
All international transfer coursework must first be verified by Graduate Admissions staff before it can be entered on a student’s record and used to meet degree requirements.
A. Email Graduate Admissions requesting transfer coursework approval
Send an email to Graduate Admissions at gsquest@umn.edu to request transfer coursework approval. In your email, include the following details:
- Student name
- Student ID
- Transfer institution
- Specific courses being transferred
- Degree the coursework applies to (e.g., master’s or doctoral)
B. Wait for email response from Graduate Admissions
Graduate Admissions staff will review the transfer coursework based on your email request and determine if credits are acceptable for transfer. Transferable credits will be indicated in the “Notes” section of the imaged transcript in Perceptive Content. All acceptable transfer coursework is assumed to be transferred with “S” grades.
After reviewing, Graduate Admissions staff will respond to your program’s email request, indicating what courses have been approved for transfer and if any further action is necessary.
